Join Us!
A receptionist is on duty at the Visitor Center to offer tips on wildlife viewing, wildlife refuge information and points of interest. A self-guided tour, featuring sculpted re-creations of wildlife and settings and interactive stations, simulates a journey through the nation's most far-reaching wildlife refuge. We also feature an award-winning movie "Journey of the Tiglax," a nature-oriented bookstore, and outdoor trails to Bishop's Beach through adjoining wetlands.
Plan Ahead & Enjoy the Trails
Many of our interpretive programs are outdoor experiences. Plan ahead to enjoy the trails by bringing appropriate gear for your visit: sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, clothing for windy or rainy conditions and appropriate shoes or boots for exploring the beach. Moose sightings are a special treat when walking the trail, but do require caution. If you see a moose, take a photo with a long lens, back up, and wait for the moose to move on.
Also check out the Visiting Us page to find out about how to see the Refuge on the Alaska Marine Highway with our Ferry Naturalist, or learn about our community partners in education.
